A little bit about Stephen Newell:

“Stephen Newell graduated with honours from the School of Architecture, UCD in 1979, receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Having gained experience working for several architectural practices he founded Stephen Newell Architects in 1985.

He has been elected a member of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Institute of Designers in Ireland.
For more than 20 years he has been one of the National Adjudicators of the Tidy Towns Competition and since 2001 has adjudicated Ireland’s Best Kept Towns Competition.

As well as providing architectural services in relation to specific buildings Stephen Newell Architects have been involved in community projects and the preparation of town and village action plans.

In our work we are particularly concerned with the contemporary interpretation of traditional architecture, the sculptural interplay of solid and void, juxtaposing planes and curves, the fragmentation of pure structure, the creation of light filled fluid spaces and evolving renewable energy technology.”
